Terms of Service

Effective date: Jule 1, 2026 · Governing law: Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the ThroughRoads Travel website and the travel planning and information services we provide. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully — they explain what we do, what we deliberately do not do, and the responsibilities we each carry.

1Who we are and what we provide

ThroughRoads Travel (“ThroughRoads,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a travel planning and information studio operating from Louisville, Kentucky. We prepare custom travel routes, research and organize destination information, structure itineraries for personal use, and assemble travel reference materials. Our entire offering is informational and planning-focused.

What we provide: written travel plans, route recommendations, destination overviews, itinerary organization, and reference documents that you use at your own discretion.

What we do not provide

To keep our role clear, we want to be explicit about the boundary of our work. ThroughRoads is not a travel agency, a tour operator, or a broker. We do not, under any circumstances:

  • book or reserve flights, trains, buses, accommodations, tours, or any other travel product;
  • sell, resell, or issue tickets of any kind;
  • provide transportation or accompany travelers;
  • process payments to third-party suppliers on your behalf;
  • hold client funds in trust or act as a payment intermediary for travel purchases; or
  • guarantee the availability, price, or terms of any third-party travel product.

Every booking, reservation, purchase, and financial transaction connected to your trip is made by you, directly with the relevant provider, on that provider’s terms. We are your navigators, not your agents.

2Eligibility

You must be at least eighteen years old and able to form a binding contract to engage our services. By engaging us, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are requesting services for lawful travel planning purposes.

3How an engagement works

A typical engagement begins with a conversation in which you describe the trip you have in mind. We then propose a scope of work and a flat, written quote for the specific service or services you have selected. Work begins once you confirm the scope and any agreed deposit.

Scope and revisions

Each quote defines the deliverables, the destinations covered, and the number of revision rounds included. Requests that fall outside the agreed scope — additional destinations, a substantially different trip length, or extra revision rounds — may be quoted separately before we proceed.

Your cooperation

The quality of a plan depends on the quality of the brief. You agree to provide accurate information about your dates, preferences, budget expectations, mobility needs, and any constraints, and to respond within a reasonable time to questions that keep your project moving.

4Fees and payment

Fees for each service are described on our website as starting prices; your final fee is confirmed in your individual quote. Because we never handle bookings, our fees never include commissions, supplier markups, or ticket costs — they are charges for planning and information work only.

Unless your quote states otherwise, a deposit is due to reserve our time, with the balance due on delivery of your plan. Fees are for professional services rendered and are earned as work is performed. Any refund arrangements are set out in your individual quote; where a plan has been substantially prepared, fees for the completed work are non-refundable.

5Nature of our recommendations

Our plans, routes, and reference materials are recommendations and informational resources. They are based on research, experience, and the information available to us at the time of preparation. Travel conditions change constantly — opening hours, prices, transport schedules, entry requirements, weather, safety conditions, and local regulations can all shift after we deliver your plan.

You are responsible for verifying time-sensitive and safety-critical details directly with official and primary sources before and during your trip. This includes, without limitation, visa and entry requirements, passport validity, health and vaccination requirements, travel advisories, insurance needs, and the current terms of any provider you choose to book. We identify the categories of things to check; the checking itself is yours to complete.

6Third-party providers and links

Our materials may name or describe airlines, lodging, tour providers, restaurants, attractions, and other third parties, and our website may link to third-party resources. We do not control these parties, do not endorse them beyond offering them as options for your consideration, and are not responsible for their acts, omissions, availability, pricing, or terms. Any dealings you have with a third party are solely between you and that party.

7Intellectual property

The plans, documents, illustrations, maps, text, and other materials we create for you, together with everything on this website, are the intellectual property of ThroughRoads and are protected by law. On full payment, you receive a personal, non-transferable license to use your plan for your own travel. You may not resell, republish, redistribute, or commercially exploit our materials, or present them as your own, without our written permission.

8Acceptable use of the website

You agree not to misuse the website: no attempting to gain unauthorized access, no scraping or automated harvesting of content, no interfering with the site’s operation, and no using the site for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend access to anyone who does.

9Disclaimers

Our services and materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any trip planned with our materials will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of the ordinary risks of travel. Please also review our Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThroughRoads and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, opportunity, or enjoyment, arising out of or relating to your use of our services or materials. This includes losses connected to bookings you make, providers you choose, delays, cancellations, closures, or events beyond our control. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim will not exceed the fees you paid us for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

11Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ThroughRoads and its team from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of our materials, your bookings and travel decisions, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

12Assumption of travel risk

Travel involves inherent risks that no plan can remove. By using our materials to travel, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume those risks, and you agree that decisions about whether, when, and how to travel are yours alone. We strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance for every trip.

13Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter directly.

14Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of our website or services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

15Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. These Terms, together with your individual quote and our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Cookie Policy, form the entire agreement between you and ThroughRoads regarding our services.
